Tara Crooks, or
Household 6″ in the Crooks family, is best known for
her ability to motivate and empower others. Tara
started her career as a retail manager for Nine West
Group, Inc. Recruited by Old Navy (GAP INC), Tara
continued to climb the corporate retail ladder with
much success! In early 2000, Tara chose to leave
retail to pursue completion of her college degree. In
returning to classes, she took a full-time position in
Human Resources. In late 2000, she and her husband,
Kevin, decided to start a family. The team decided,
given Kevin s career choice, that Tara would work from
home.
Tara began her work
from home career in Direct Sales as a Mary Kay
representative. She continued to climb the ladder of
success, however, she always felt as if something was
missing . In 2001, she and her husband welcomed their
first baby girl, Wrena. It was with the completion of
her Bachelors of Business Administration in Human
Resource Management and the birth of her daughter,
that Tara decided to break out her entrepreneurial
spirit and go for the gold! She opened her first
website The Candle Coop in late 2001 and
began working with a distributor to sell highly
scented apothecary jar candles via the internet and
home parties. Tara has since sold The Candle Coop
and through a series of unlikely events found her
niche .
Through the work
she did with work at home moms through The Candle
Coop Tara learned that motivating and empowering
women was something she was good at doing. She saw a
void in the area of moms advertising their businesses
online. To fill this void she opened Advertising
Moms (www.advertisingmoms.com).
In 2004 Tara started doing talk radio interviews with
Kelly McCausey owner of
http://www.wahmtalkradio.com/.
It was Kelly s encouragement and support that led Tara
to start a talk radio program for Army Wives.
Army Wife Talk
Radio was born in April 2005 as the original
internet talk radio program for military wives. The
tagline, Our Life, Our Family, Our Soldier, said it all. Tara
started the show as a 30 minute weekly internet talk radio broadcast
featuring up to date information, tips, and
empowerment for Army spouses. The show has had a great
amount of success being featured in
Military Spouse Magazine, Stars & Stripes
Newspaper, Military.com, and
Army.com, to name a few. Tara has been featured in
the national news circuit on the FOX REPORT and even
been called the Oprah of the Armed Forces by CBS
Evening News Anchor Katie Couric.
In 2006 Tara
partnered with Star Henderson to publish and
self-syndicate Field Problems, a military
question and answer column, geared toward empowering
spouses by providing real answers to common questions
of today s military families.
In July of 2007,
during her husband's second Iraq deployment, Tara's
family welcomed their second baby girl, Chloe.
"Military life" was happening but that didn't stand in
her way to empower and motivate spouses!
With
the success of both AWTR and FP Tara and Star
co-founded Army Wife Network (www.armywifenetwork.com)
in April of 2009. The pair now continue their work on
Army Wife Talk Radio which has evolved into a weekly
two hour LIVE broadcast, continue their writing on
Field Problems, and they have taken to traveling across the US visiting
military locations and delivering their trademark
spouse events Field Exercises.

Tara s
